Viva Bretagna! Booze and Sunshine.

Got back on Sunday from a week at Candy’s. On the 17th May temperatures soared into the thirties so Pat was worried about the flowers surviving a week without watering. Accordingly she invested in two automatic watering systems, one for the upper loggia and one for the courtyard. Three days before we left for England the temperature dropped and the skies opened: there was non-stop torrential all day and night until we got to Pescara. England on the other hand was bathed in sunshine with temperatures in the twenties.
On Tuesday I had an appointment with a ‘Genius’ at the Apple Store in Cambridge to sort out my iPhone. I’d dropped it a few weeks ago and had caused a small crack in the back. More worryingly, it has behaved oddly for a time: refusing to connect with my external speakers and no sound when I made a phone call. Although for the last couple of weeks these problems have disappeared, I wanted the back replaced and an engineer to look inside to make sure all the components were in place. The ‘Genius’ told me that they didn’t replace backs and he couldn’t look inside. He ran a diagnostic test which showed everything was working ok, but apart from that all he could offer me was a refurbished model at a cost of several hundred quid! Given that a new model is due out later this month and the phone was working that seemed a bum deal. Parker’s Piece and Christ’s Pieces were littered with semi-naked people of all ages soaking up the sunshine. Probably Spaniards and Italians escaping from the rain.
On Thursday we took Quinn to Bressingham. Click here for the video. In the evening we went to John and Joy’s for a meal. Friday evening I went out with Richard and Chris Horwood to the Woodman’s. On Saturday I put up shelves for Candy and Pat hung curtains. In the evening we took Quinn for a meal at the Three Bells. On Sunday we drove through the pouring rain to Stansted and so home to sunshine and a pizza from Lupo’s. The natural order is restored: once again England’s wet and cold and Italy hot and sunny
